The challenge of integrating the national economy with the world economy makes Indonesia must be ready to face this challenge. The various opportunities that exist should be able to be utilized to gain profit. On the one hand, basic things are needed to be able to compete in this condition such as (1) high product competitiveness, (2) qualified human resources (3) quality export infrastructure, (4) extensive knowledge from stakeholders (policy makers at central and regional governments, business people, academics, financial institutions and the community), and (5) reliable coordination and strategy from related multistakeholders.
In order to be able to seize opportunities and take advantage of an increasingly integrated world economy, a reliable, competent and trusted Study Unit is needed to be able to provide consulting services, studies, research, training and selection of policy strategy options to stakeholders and parties related to world trade issues. International Trade Analysis and Policy (ITAPS) or FEM International Trade Policy and Analysis as a study unit under FEM-IPB is expected to be able to meet these needs. ITAPS was initiated by (late) Prof. Rina Oktaviani in 2014.
